Interviews from the World Ocean Summit in Bali, Indonesia
At the World Ocean Summit in February 2017, in the presence of global leaders in coastal management, environmental finance, sustainable governance, and climate adaptation, the Global Mangrove Alliance officially announced its existence and its bold mission – to increase mangrove habitat by 20% over current extent by the year 2030.
This announcement, made by Conservation International, The Nature Conservancy, and World Wildlife Fund, marked the start of an ambitious initiative to bring mangrove destruction to the forefront as an issue of significant global concern and to upscale efforts to conserve and restore these incredibly valuable ecosystems.
